Who am I?

I’m Natalie, a late twenty something Sydneysider with a passion for eating, cooking and travelling (when I can afford it). We likely share at least one of those things which is how you’ve stumbled across this site. I sincerely hope you enjoy my writing and the recipes I have put my heart and soul into.

My obsession with food started at a very early age. At that time its safe to say all I was interested in was it’s consumption, by me…

As adolescence hit I chose a few Suzie home-maker subjects at school and so began my love affair with cooking (and still very much eating). I had a knack for it. I seemed to know what worked well together and when it didn’t I learned VERY quickly. Mum passed on some of the dinner responsibilities to me as I got a little older and I was completely hooked. I thrived on the positive feedback my family would give me and it propelled me to take the love further.

I completed a Certificate II in Hospitality through Tafe and flirted with the idea of becoming a chef but it never panned out. The hours are rubbish and I think the stress of being in a commercial kitchen would send me bonkers! Instead I studied business at uni and have been in 9-5 office jobs ever since; but I’m at a point now where food consumes an unusually large part of my life outside of work (and my thoughts whilst I’m there). I plan my life around what meals I’m going to prepare. Where I’m going to source the food from and which lucky friends and family are going to reap the tasty rewards!  Some day I hope to finally make a living doing something I truly enjoy with food. Whether it be feature writing, the production of artisan products, education and classes or cooking in my own little place.

The Saucy Redhead is the long overdue beginning of that journey…
